It was a good weekend and we got a lot done. On Saturday morning we went to Descanso Gardens for a class on Rose Pruning. As you know we have a few... rose bushes. Jamie was all fired up so we went back home and he started pruning. We had decided that this was the weekend we were going to work on the hallway room so I set out to rip out the wood. First the moldings... then the face plates (goodbye statue of David!!!) As you can see from this picture, the first big thing I removed was the door that hid the ironing board! I am sure you realize what a useless thing a built in ironing board is for me since I don't iron ANYTHING!

This picture is a detail of the lath and plaster construction that makes up our house. Just in case no one believed me in how old the house is!!!!

In the upper left of this picture, Jamie found an old beehive or honeycomb. (He came in to help once it got too hot to keep pruning.) He quikly cleaned it out, thank goodness! I was afraid of what we would find back there!

Here is the wall with all of the boards gone, we think it reminds of us a New York Studio loft. What do you think? Should we keep it like this?

After all the work (My mom and Tom's help too!) We got all of the boards down and 1/3 of the drywall up by the closet. We'll get it all finished next weekend!
